Well......crap. Long time Victoria media biz guy "Mighty" Mike Easton, ex-CKDA, ex-CFMS, ex-CJVI and ex-CHEK TV on air personality, passed away suddenly last night at age 78. Mike was a good friend of our family - I'd known him as a kid when he and dad were at CHEK. In recent years he was best known as the founder-owner of Puget Sound Radio, an information hub of all things media in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.

After my dad left CHEK and his signature show Club 6 to move over as PD at Victoria Cablevision in 1970, Mike bravely assumed the helm and hosted the show until 1971.

He was opinionated beyond measure, occasionally snarly, always opinionated and waaaay over on the political Right; in recent years he and I clashed more than once, to the point he un-friended me three times on Facebook only to later apologize and re-friend me each time, lol. In recent years Mike lived in the Parksville area but continued soldiering on with PSR right up until the end. Seeya Mike, say Hi to dad for me.....

Sorry to hear this. I used to follow Puget Sound Radio, but couldn't handle some of the posts and opinions shared there after a while. RIP Mike.

Yup hence our occasional 'disagreements' heh. Later in life Mike found God and for whatever reason really embraced some of the more outrageous conspiracy meme's floating about the MSN and online universes. Regardless he was always unfailingly kind to me when I was younger, was a great of the family and considered himself like dad's 'younger brother' (political opinions very much aside!). If nothing else our conversations and interactions were never dull......
