ABC has announced that it is pulling Jimmy Kimmel Live—Jimmy Kimmel’s long-running late night series—in response to comments Kimmel made on air about the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered last week in Utah.

ABC, which is owned by Disney, made the decision after FCC chairman Brendan Carr threatened to take action against Kimmel earlier Wednesday. “This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr, a Donald Trump appointee, told right wing journalist Benny Johnson. “These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead

The comment in question came when Kimmel was discussing the suspect in Kirk’s murder, Tyler Robinson. “The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel insinuated Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin was a member of the “MAGA gang” while mocking President Donald Trump’s response to his death during his show Monday night.

 

The Jimmy Kimmel Live host brought up the matter during his monologue and claimed right-wing critics were hitting “new lows” trying to frame the suspect, 22-year-old Utah native Tyler Robinson, as someone who wasn’t “MAGA.”

 

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.

 

He went on to mock Trump’s responses, criticising the White House for flying US flags at half-staff and Trump for discussing ballroom construction when asked his thoughts days later.

 

“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?” Kimmel said.

 

Today, Nextrar Media Group, which has more than 200 partner stations across the US, announced that it would pull Kimmel’s show indefinitely in light of the “offensive” remarks, The Wrap reports.

I don’t think what he said is that bad. It is blatantly spreading misinformation to insinuate the killer was anything but an extreme leftist… but it’s not like he celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death- as many others have done.

This seems like it’s too far to take him off the air over it. Trump neutering politically opposed views. This stinks imo.

Are you perhaps thinking of MAID? Because that is something the Canadian government has offered, and followed through on, for homeless and mentally ill people.

Ya, the discussion was about the mentally ill and drug addicted people who either were incapable of consenting to or not interested in treatment.   Jail/involuntary treatment or death.  Seems reasonable to me.

Why do we approve MAID for a person with dementia?  By definition they are not thinking clearly and surely cannot give consent.
