Officials are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie. Law enforcement believe the 84-year-old was taken from her home against her will in a “possible kidnapping or abduction” before her family reported her missing from her Arizona residence the following day.

 

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the night of Jan. 31 at her home outside Tucson and was reported missing at noon on Feb. 1 by her family, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a news conference on Feb. 2.

Yes, I think that makes it rare.  I think kidnapping of adults (except where an often female is "kidnapped" for sexual assault reasons) is somewhat rare (compared to child abduction, usually by a parent) and abduction of a senior more rare.   Now we have an adult senior, and parent of a fairly well-known person.

The children of Nancy Guthrie are pleading for their mother’s safe return in a new video today posted by her daughter Savannah Guthrie, host of the “Today” show, saying to the possible captor: “We will pay.”

“We received your message, and we understand,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video posted to her Instagram account, sitting alongside her brother and sister. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The new video, which comes days after the siblings posted a first video with an emotional plea, shows Savannah Guthrie again sandwiched between her older sister Annie Guthrie and older brother Camron Guthrie.

News Alert: FBI releases images from camera at Nancy Guthrie's house

 

The FBI has released new images from a camera at Nancy Guthrie’s house, showing a person who appears to be wearing a mask.

The images show “an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” according to a post on FBI Director Kash Patel's X account, which shared the images moments ago.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” Patel wrote in the post.

For weeks her home in Tucson, Arizona has been a hive of activity, but now it has been reported that officers are preparing to return the home over to her family.

 

Federal law sources have acknowledged that law enforcement no longer see the need to seal the premises as a crime scene or restrict the family from entering, according to reports by NBC News.

 

It comes as the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s department were spotted at the home on February 25 conducting what is believed to be a final sweep for evidence.

 

The development into returning the property to the family signals that the investigation into the 84-year-old’s abduction is at a standstill.
