Celebrate Seedy Saturday
Victoria Seedy Saturday is back next weekend in what is touted as the kickoff to the gardening season.
This year’s event will be on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crystal Garden at 713 Douglas St.
The annual event, one of about 150 such gatherings across the country, dates back to 1994 and brings together gardeners, farmers and environmental groups.
“It serves as a hub for seed exchanging, a marketplace for locally grown and climate-adapted seeds and plants, and a space for both formal and informal learning about gardening, climate-resilient food growing and ecological stewardship,” organizers said.
It will feature about 70 vendors, including the Capital Region Beekeepers Association, Edible Landscapes Design Ltd., the Compost Education Centre and the Garry Oak Meadow Preservation Society.
