Speaking of gardening, I found some funny things in the Daily Colonist archive re: the local gardening articles. Namely, the exact same paragraphs used word-for-word as much as a decade apart.
Several years ago a much younger aastra heard the voice on CBC radio telling a joke, and much younger aastra anticipated the punchline. The thing is, a bit of investigation revealed that the same station had told the same joke on the same day exactly one year previously. We all know there's nothing organic about how the big media machine operates, but for such an irrelevant little joke to be a fixed element in the script was a bit of a surprise even for the more cynical listener (much younger aastra asked a more cynical listener about it). I mean, I would have thought the script would say "insert irrelevant joke here" or some such thing. There are innumerable irrelevant little jokes to pick from, and yet for all I know they may have told that same joke on the same day for three or more years running.
