Why not just have a doorman invite people in, or does the invitation have to go out beforehand?

Stupid rule.

I take it this is a BC-wide rule?

Know it all.

Yes, but there seems to be a sudden clamp-down on stuff that has been on the books forever, but wasn't really enforced all too stringently until now. I know of no reason for this, very few art gallery openings have erupted in teenage-drinking riots, at least in 2012 the reports have been down.

I'm familiar with these licenses and have never heard of that rule. I don't see how this can be enforced. Galleries and other places that use these licenses typically send out mass emails to their clients and those that signed up for updates anyway. What is the inspector going to do, insist on following a guest home to see if an invite is in their Outlook inbox on their home computer? Even if a dude walked in off the street, who's to say he wasn't invited? Why they crack down on this loophole while cutting other liquor law red tape is a mystery.

The liquor authorities have struck again. The Victoria Film Festival has been doing occasional "quote-along" movies at the Vic Thratre, for $10 admission. They do about one every month or two. Liquor service is available. Until now, people could walk up, buy a ticket and go in. Now they must pre-purchase tickets.

Looks like a zealot must be running things now

I dont drink more than a handful of drinks in a year so alcohol is wasted on me, but this seems ridiculous....archaic doesnt even begin to describe the stupidity of these laws.
