I haven't heard overwhelming opposition as Councillor liaison. Much less than many much smaller projects. I was more questioning the mail out process and whether or not we are using plain language, illustrative images, and strong design in our mail outs.  We have recently changed the Rezoning signage at development sites to be easier to read and more interesting. Perhaps we should do the same for mail outs which may help bring more folks other than opposing neighbours to public hearings.

This is Victoria. You don't exactly have to be Nostradamus to prognosticate opposition to ANY development proposal in this city.

Mailouts? This is the modern era. Allow property owners and residents of the city (by area if necessary) to vote online on the proposals.

That's a good idea.  They are pretty boring.

Now that the foundation is done the wood framing is going up fairly quickly.

Such an underwhelming project for this site.

Yeah it's going quickly. They have workers going at it in the evenings and weekends. Signs on Harbour Rd saying "Move in July 2017" so they're hard at it.

This "beauty" is practically done. I guess that's the plus side of building a rectangular box.

There's another building just North of this (behind the Kinetic trailers in this pic) that hasn't started framing yet, but the concrete foundation/first floor appears complete.

The most recent rezoning request for Dockside Green (discussed earlier in this thread) will go to council Thursday.

CBC article on the revised Dockside Green plans - note that Pam Madoff supports the developer's proposal:

Interesting - per the article I do wonder what "The new plan has scaled down many of the building projects...." actually will translate into in terms of building massing, height etc.

And especially since Pam apparently likes it gives me pause and makes me wonder if we're going to wind up with a bunch of boring, identical 4-6 story 'smurf' buildings.....

Maybe they'll designated it ALR and put a bunch of sheep in a field behind a red brick heritage facade. Pam would probably like that

As long as the sheep don't block her view of the Sooke hills.
