Just a quick reminder that there is a thread specific to the 26-storey Roundhouse tower here: https://vibrantvicto...e-4#entry410466

VV's forums have always been a great place for old baggage.

If you go to the sales center and ask about the Roundhouse, they'll tell you it'll be another five years!  Good grief, even HB's prediction was optimistic.   :o

There is more test drilling at the Roundhouse today, notably very close to Kimta.

The surveyors have also been busy. There are marked red spots above the rock wall on Kimta and also following the railway tracks across from Trek. Two of the surveyors hiked to the top of the gravel pile with their magic GPS wand.

Very quiet.

I was in touch with someone on the marketing front but that was back in 2017, if I'm not mistaken. I don't even know if the same individuals are still employed there.

The sales signs are still up for the presentation center being open. What puzzles me is what are they presenting because there is nothing going on. I lost all faith in this project after 2 VIP open houses and no pricing or products have been the same either time. Hopefully someone buys this land of Mariash, has the funds readily available and starts fresh.

Significant changes to the Roundhouse plan have been proposed, including a shift  to 1000 units of rental housing  (20% non-market).

This screenshot was taken from the new vision document submitted to the city; this document (which outlines other substantial  changes) is at https://tender.victo...130130718936158

retail drops from 12% to 4.4%.

actually "retail" of 12% drops to "retail/employment" of 4.4%.  whatever that means.

Reduce/nearly remove the one interesting component of this project. Sad.

There was an opportunity to do something interesting with the former Roundhouse buildings, but I guess that's dead.

i think if you don't have a certain critical mass it does not really work.  can we think of any little boutique shopping villages?  estevan village?  csv?  mattick's farm?  cadboro bay village?  i don't know if any of those are really booming.

.

So in the end, the Bayview development will just be an extension of the lifeless Songhees albeit with taller residential buildings.

The total amount of retail increases if you read thw square footage. Just the relative proportion that decreases.
