Anyone know of a good website/map for determining the crown land/places it's free to camp on the island? I'm assuming with the amount of crown land it's still possible to find some space on the long week-end?
For various circumstances for this week-end we're just looking for a "car camping" spot, we can pull up, walk a couple hundred feet and plop a tent, setup a campfire and relax for the night, having to return home the next day.
Thanks in advance!

There are vast amounts of land towards Port Renfrew. Keep driving until you leave behind the inhabited areas (some ways beyond Jordan River) and eventually you'll start seeing turn-offs to the right. Those are logging roads and you're sure to find something along them. Best part is, they raise up along with the terrain providing for spectacular vistas of the ocean when you come across clearings.
If you don't mind several hours of driving head out towards Nitinaht (past Youbou) and drive along the logging roads there. You're bound to come across something that will meet your requirements.

Know it all.
