I saw Gordon Price speak last night and he is right on ball with what we have been saying on here. I have been having a look at some of the Price Tag PDf s and they are definitely worth a look. Tampa and Florida in general is once again confirmed as a version of Hell for me.

Yes, I thought that was very interesting. Price was a former Vancouver City Councillor. He talked about how Victoria can and should do density better than Vancouver did in the 70s. He talked about the value of density and how downtown Vancouver is talking about a third new elementary school which I thought was great and how privacy concerns can be alleviated with highrise design.

^right, he said at 25m apart (~80 feet) highrise residential units afford decent privacy but he cautioned against enjoying the view whilst standing butt nekkid in front of the window.

I was particularly blow away by his comparison between late 19th-Century development trends in North America and modern-day new urbanism.

Know it all.

It's light upbeat reading, especially for the Vancouverites.. not really something that asks hard questions about Vancouver (sorry, Utopia) oops did I type that?

I like how he draws perspective from places other than Vancouver and applies it to NA cities in general.

I suppose it is an evolution... but most of the early issues focused on various areas of Vancouver and the GVRD. I enjoy it and do usually agree with his observations and commentary.
