I'm hoping to enhance everyone's summer BBQ with my all-purpose recipe for "rub". Rub is the secret to all good BBQ and the masters hold their recipes close to the vest. However, mine is simple to make and has flavours balanced so that it tastes great on beef, pork, chicken and salmon you might want to make on the BBQ. All the ingredients are available easily at the supermarket -- nothing odd or hard to find:

Rorschach Rub:

1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup onion salt
1/6 cup paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

--

That's it. Simple eh? Sprinkle like you would salt using a moderate amount of the rub on any of the meats listed above and rub it into the meat with your hands. Steaks, baby back ribs and chicken wings on the BBQ are especially tasty with this rub. It also works magic on hamburgers - use it with the traditional hamburger recipe in another thread.
