Just a reminder that the Architectural Institute of BC is again sponsoring [url=http://www.aibc.ca/pub_resources/aibc_outreach/architectural_walking_tour.html:e1bf0]walking tours of Victoria[/url:e1bf0] this summer. There are five themes to choose from.

Victoria Architectural Tours
Summer 2007 - July 3 to August 31

Explore Victoria’s unique built environment through five architectural perspectives:

- The Inner Harbour
- The Site of Old Victoria
- Old Town + Chinatown
- Ecclesiastical Architecture
- Art Deco + Moderne in Victoria

Tours run once a day Tuesdays through Saturdays inclusive (first tour Tuesday, July 3; last tour Friday, August 31). Tours cost $5 CDN (including GST) per individual participant, who may register on-site before each tour. All Victoria tours start in front of the Community Arts Council office in the Sussex Building Courtyard at 1001 Douglas Street. Tuesday to Saturday tours start at 1:00 pm.

Tours will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, rain or shine. Please dress for head-to-toe walking comfort! Groups of eight or more must register ahead of time through the AIBC by phone at 1-800-667-0753, ext. 333 toll-free in BC), or by email at tours@aibc.ca. Please contact the AIBC at least one week in advance. And if you plan to visit Vancouver this summer, consider taking one or all six AIBC architectural walking tours offered in that city once a day in July, and August.

Cool. I saw a girl giving this tour the other day. I was surprised to see something like this.

Know it all.

More walking tours--this story was picked by the Seattle Times:

Taking a stroll through Victoria

Seattle Times
Thursday, August 30, 2007 - Page updated at 02:02 AM

Victoria has a new series of self-guided walking tours and maps to help visitors explore the city's history through its neighborhoods. Themes include the "Forbidden City," focusing on Canada's first Chinatown; "Law & Order," recalling stories of Victoria's lawmen and criminals; and "Fools Rush In," showcasing the Gold Rush era. The brochures are available at Tourism Victoria Visitor Centre or at http://www.victoria.ca/tours.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."
