Wow, that's crazy. I guess it probably wasn't a computer error, more likely the trained monkeys operating the press forgot to remove one of the previous day's aluminum printing plates before putting the new ones on.

No it doesn't work that way having a separate plate for each page. Apart from the calendar on page 2 the rest of the page is okay and that would have been imposed on the press with the inside back page as it is the same sheet of paper.

That didn't take long. Two weeks into Black Press taking over the printing of the Times-Colonist there is a full page mistake in today's Sunday paper.

The editorial page is the same page as was published on Friday, including Friday's date.

The TC has posted the missing pages online.

Two pages from Friday's newspaper were published in Sunday's papers. Here are the pages that should have appeared:

We still get the Times Colonist delivered to our door, but since it is being printed up Island by Black Press it's arriving an hour later around 7:30 am.

Road conditions were normal, no closures on the Malahat and no weather related delays. Another nail in the newspaper coffin...just in time for Halloween.

last sunday 30,000 copies did not leave ladysmith until after 8am they had a big breakdown.  that was all the election coverage too.  it looks like they have to print the paper in "two halves" now one after another and then combine them together since it's a smaller press and can't print a full sized (multi-section) tc all at once.

if you look at the photo here from day#1.

they printed the inside sections first then set them aside then they have to print the rest and mate them after.

The breakdown stopped the production of the newspaper until a specialist arrived to restore the machinery.

it's interesting and probably frustrating to have your biggest competitor have production problems that affect **your** product and customers.

The term is "collate" and if it is being done by hand, that would account for some of the delay.

And again today.

Delivery of today's Times Colonist print edition has been delayed because of production problems.

Dang...gone like a blue bridge in the night.

Or a statue of an evil, white, male colonial.

As a wise leader recently said, "This is what decolonization looks like."

Wise leader? Must have been a comment from someone overseas, because we certainly don't have many of those around these parts.

No Times Colonist yet this morning. They are going to loose advertisers and customers if this keeps up

However...we get the Saturday Globe and Mail and it has been here for a half hour.

The TC was at the door by 6:45 today.

The paper was slim at 32 pages.

My name wasn't on the obit page.

After 8:30am today. Most people have already gone to work by then. Yesterday's news tomorrow, but later.

I can get the morning TC at 5:30 am at the Esso at Tolmie and Douglas, but the paper doesn't get delivered to my home until after 7 am.

Anyone else notice how light the ink is on some of the pages?

Cost cutting, less ink less money.

The high winds that swept across Vancouver Island on Thursday have caused delays in the printing and delivery of the Friday Times Colonist.

The newspaper will be delivered as soon as possible. The e-edition of the newspaper will be available as usual. We apologize for the inconvenience.
