University of Victoria cafeteria services worker Barb Plonk expressed frustration after returning to work January 2 that the previous shift failed to clean a chowder tureen adequately, causing unnecessary extra work.
The long-time employee, whose duties include dishwashing and sanitation supervision in the campus' busy cafeteria came to work Wednesday morning to find a chowder pot used to make a batch of creamy clam goodness on New Years' Eve had been left sitting empty and unwashed for two full days.
Plonk said that if the day shift had simply left it soaking in soapy water overnight, "it wouldn't have been such a frigging pain to scrub. It took me like most of a frigging hour to clean".
UVic spokesperson Paul Marck would not comment, claiming this was an internal personnel issue.
