Torstar owns 19% of BP, so I'm not sure if that means BP lost about $1.5M in the last quarter.

That is what it would mean, although I believe that if you look at the comprehensive loss it is even larger.

That A/C sale worked well through there! The wife tends to use Varagesale more than UsedVic for sales, but we buy more from UsedVic.

Torstar owns most of VerticalScope, which runs VarageSale.

See if you can make any sense of this...

http://www.vicnews.c...-food-security/

Food for Thought

· Almost 20 per cent of Saanich land is protected as Agriculture Land Reserve (ALR), but not all farms in Saanich are located within the ALR.

· 21 per cent of Saanich land is farmed and 68 percent of farms are under 10 acres in size

· 380 farm operators are located in Saanich with farm sales comprised of:

· 60 per cent directly to consumers

· 52 per cent farm gate sales, stands or u-pick

· 8 per cent farmers’ markets

· 6 community gardens are currently located in the District of Saanich

· 6 per cent of households in Greater Victoria are considered “food insecure”

I don't have a problem understanding that. The issue I have with this whole thing though is that 'affordable' and 'locally sourced' don't go hand in hand here, especially in the winter.

I understand it but I have to work my head around with the way it's all formatted.

Strange that they don’t mention what percentage is sold commercially, business to business.

Saanich ratifies deal with public workers

CUPE workers agree to increase of 1.75% in first year and 2% over the next three years

Terms of the agreement include wage increases of 1.75 per cent in the first year and two per cent in each of the following three years.

http://www.vicnews.c...public-workers/

Anybody spot the difference?

I can visualize what you mean, the statement posited, which likely explains away the issue identified in, among other examples, the paragraph replicated above.

Only 1% of farmed land in Saanich is not in the ALR and there are a bunch of useless farmers in Victoria that don't know what a cabbage looks like.   :farmer:

One of the awkward things about writing for an online news source, that will also print your article on paper one day a week, is you have to decide how to write the tense.

So in this case, BP is just pretending it has already happened.
