http://www.zoocasa.com/en/about-us

I'm hearing CFAX ads touting Zoocasa, and the ad says straight-up that their website is better than Realtor.ca

It's a Rogers company, which is kind of funny since the ads are on a Bell station.

What gives?  It looks like a more colourful version of Realtor.ca.  Works the same.

Realtor.ca has been revamped recently too. I think realtor.ca is adfree which is a big plus over zoocasa. Much better name too, I'm not looking for houses for my animals!

I don't see much difference in functionality though.

Yeah this site name is terrible and is completely non-intuitive. Sometimes "clever" isn't necessarily better. :squint:

It has, and is about 30% better too.

Google.

Google is purposefully misspelled googol which means an incredibly large number. Those braniacs knew what they were doing!

As for zoocasa, sheesh, when I first saw the thread title I was immediately thinking it had something to do with Mexican real-estate.

Google.

I'll check back in 10 years to see if Zoocasa becomes synonymous with real estate.

Godaddy?  Largest registrar in the world.  I dunno.  Sometimes strange names work.

I think Zoocasa is trying to be like Zillow in the US and only time will tell if it pans out for them.

They have an interesting rebate program -> http://www.youtube.c...h?v=SgUSyA30cG4

Basically they take a cut from the REALTOR® and then they kick back some of that cut to the buyer.

I was just clicking on the link for this thread when an ad came on the radio (CKNW).  I thought what's that silly ad?  Turns out it was a Zoocasa ad.  Good timing.

I'll stick with MLS, not that I'm buying a home any time soon.  The new MLS is considerably better than the previous version.  I was using the beta site for a while and even that was better than the old one.

My third wife used to say that.

And yet another site has sprung up. I found it searching the interweb, don't know how long it's been around, or why we need another one.

Zoocasa has ads running on CFAX that just talk about Yaletown and Horsehoe Bay.  Some wonk in the East looked at a map and just figured it'd be fine for us I guess.

Zoocasa is spending a lot of cash on advertising but they only have three REALTORS® signed up in Victoria.

Now the new ads say "are there horse farms in Southlands?" and "finding tourists at a steam clock".

Very odd for Victoria radio.

I'm sure Bell doesn't care that their competitor (Rogers) is wasting ads :)

Even I had to look up Southlands to confirm I knew what that area is, I'm sure 98% of Victorians have no idea.

ZOOCASA is closing permanently June 22

TORONTO – Online real estate brokerage Zoocasa is shutting down as of June 22, parent company Rogers Communications, Inc. confirmed with Global News Tuesday.

“Rogers has made the decision to no longer to continue our investment in Zoocasa as the business is no longer a fit with our overall company plan, and core areas of focus. We will close down our website and mobile app effective June 22nd, 2015,” the company said in a statement.

An email sent to customers earlier in the day stated that although Zoocasa has “had great success” in the past two years, they have “made the difficult decision to close down” their business.

I guess the great success does not include profits.

Great success with airing terrible ads maybe. But that's about it.
