So this is about the biggest game around here since 2005 (last time Seattle was in it, and lost).

At least we know the officials will do a better job this time. We know this because there's simply no way they could possibly do worse.

Although they almost ruined the NFC title game this year, so maybe I'm being optimistic.

Do all these 12 flags have to do with this bowl thing?

Yes there are 11 men for each side on the field. The "12th man" is the crowd.

VHF by "biggest game around here" I presume you mean biggest football game in which case I agree assuming you like the NFL; otherwise it pales to insignificance in comparison to the 2010 Olympic men's hockey gold medal game.....

You really think so? Olympic stuff tends to be a flash in the pan, I find.

There are 270 tickets to the superbowl for sale on StubHub. The lowest is $9,205.25 and the highest is $49,999.99. The price is in US dollars.

I think I should go to Costco today and buy the biggest flat screen they have. I will still have the TV on Monday.

Geezus.

IMO anything over 60" and you want a projector.

I set one up the other day for someone... $800 for 120" 1080p...

Budget projectors can be pretty good these days.

If you get the 100 inch screen those players will spit right into your popcorn.

Mine's a paltry 80" so I should be safe from spittle.

Face recognition is quite successful for catching criminals at the super bowl. It has been in use for over a decade.

It actually hasn't.  It's been very poor.

It actually has not been any type of success at all.  I can't find a single article that shows any amount of positive results.  Unless it's scaring terrorists away from making the attempted entry.  Because its positive match results is dismal.

I probably shouldn't have started this conversation. Face recognition at Super Bowl games started in 2001 in Tampa, 14 years ago. The results were dismal, but negative public opinion about the use of the technology was not. Since then the technology has greatly improved and so has the secrecy and absence of publicity.

A friend of mine works security at Burning Man. You can google that all day and all you find is what can happen if you get your picture taken and it ends up on facebook. You do not find on the internet about the technology that takes place behind the curtain. I don't think some the people with outstanding warrants that are coincidentally discovered in attendance at either event have any idea how they were discovered.
