Nice Art Deco period structure

There goes our $10 growlers.  Price is gonna go up.

What's the timeframe on getting this opened up?

With the liquor involved, there are some extra steps for sure.  I'd bank on very, very late in year, or early 2018, if I was betting.

This is quite relevant to the discussion. Recent changes to liberalize tasting room rules.

While they wait for the necessary liquor approvals I suggest they open a dispensary and "vaping" lounge, since these can operate without any sort of license or government sanctions.

That old pet grooming place fronts Phillips' canning line. Would be neat to have a big glass wall that lets you see all the action. I heard they are the #6 brewer in Canada now, getting big! Wonder if that's true.

Funny, I've seen the plans and there will be windows into the bottling room! While the building needs work, I would expect to see it open this year. Only red tape can get in the way of a great tasting room.

Molson, Alexander Keiths, Sleeman's, Labatts, and I guess there's a big brewery out east somewhere?

Oland's are the two large Atlantic Canada brewers. Two branches of the family, one in NB the other in NS. NS brewed Oland's, Schooner and Alpine (tests indicated all 3 horses were diabetic).
NB Oland's brews Moosehead. That's the branch where papa was murdered and the son is out on appeal.
Keith's was an Oland (NS) brand until it was sold to Labatt's in the 70s.
Business manager where I worked in Hfx was Alexander Keith's great grand-daughter. Old Alex has the biggest granite monument in Halifax's Camp Hill Cemetery, must be 16-18 feet tall.

While they may still produce beer here, none of these are Canadian Companies anymore, all foreign owners

Hmm. Well I'll be. I had no idea Molson had merged with Coors, or that Sleeman's was now owned by Japan's Sapporo.

Crazy.

Actually, no. Keith's was part of Labatt's which was taken over by InBev the Belgian mega-brewer (Stella Artois etc).
I dont drink any of them (diabetic horses etc).
BC craft beers for me!

Pacific Western in Prince George likely ranks above Phillips in terms of production volume. Big Rock in Alberta, Steam Whistle in Toronto likely produce more as well. Would need to know by what metric Phillips is supposedly #6 in Canada to guess at what #1-5 might be.

Oh I have no data to support that claim. A friend of mine who works in an executive role at VIB told me that. He's been in the beer industry, oh, 25 years or so, so I took his word for it.

Oh, for sure. I think there's so much variability that Mr Phillips didn't want to make an erroneous statement, but I'd say he corroborated what your friend said.

Yeah, that was an afterthought second guessing my original statement that they are all foreign owned.

Yes, NS Olands bailed years ago. I seem to remember Alpine as an Oland's NS brand but its 33 years since I lived there.
