I much prefer to see movies downtown than at Tillicum but the Odeon seats are brutal for anyone over 5 feet tall. Would love to see movies in town at a theatre that isn't uncomfortable!

Awesome news! We need our very own Alamo Drafthouse.

What'd be nice: adult only theatre allowing alcohol and food service at your seat... those are becoming popular.

Now this is a GOOD idea!  Everyone chew with your mouths closed please.

“What I can say is that we’re in the early stages of remodelling the theatre, and we hope to reopen in August,” said Golin, who spoke in the theatre’s second-storey office as crews removed hundreds of timeworn theatre seats.

Tick, tick, tick, guess that was missed.  Does anyone see any action around here?

The lobby was full of  stacked pallets and flattened cardboard boxes just the other week that had been there awhile but it looks as though that's been cleared. A big blue dumpster bin was just hauled away a few days ago as well.

To see what is playing  at Capital 6 - http://www.webvic.com/capitol6/

It will seem like old times — but with a new spin — in downtown Victoria as Capitol 6 Cinemas comes back to life today as a luxury multiplex.

On Thursday afternoon, owner Andrew Golin and his crews were putting the finishing touches on the theatre.

The Blanshard Street movie theatre was closed three years ago by Empire Company Ltd.

“As usual, it’s the last-minute fire drill, and the screen riggers are still doing their stuff,” Golin said.

For a luxury multiplex, that is far from a luxury website; somebody get them a webmaster.

This is the actual website:

http://www.capitol6.ca/

That site is just for one movie theatre.

If you want to check all the theatres this is the one to use by clicking on the Victoria Theatre Links box.

That's definitely not what it's supposed to look like. Perhaps it's not formatted well for Chrome?

That could be a problem.

The website appears fine when I view it with Chrome. My only issue is why only 5 movies in a 6 screen multiplex?

It was likely an improperly loaded CSS stylesheet :)

Admission prices are $12 for adults (ages 14-64), $10.50 for seniors, and $10 for children ages three to 13, with a $3 surcharge for 3D presentations.

Ticket prices will be reduced to $7 for seniors on Mondays, and to $7.50 for everyone on Tuesdays. Moviegoers who attend showings before 4 p.m. will be admitted for $10.

That's very reasonable pricing. Better than we discussed and I expected. I guess they'll make the money on the extras.

i dont really see any reason to go here over cineplex. especially cineplex tillicum or westshore where you dont step on a pile of discarded glass crack pipes on your way out of the the theatre (happened to me last time I went to a movie downtown)

Well for those of us who CHOOSE to live downtown we can walk to this location rather than having to trek all the way out to Tillicum or worse Westshore Town Centre.

If you hate downtown that much I assure you, the residents won't miss your presence if you choose to never visit our community again.

Don't we want more people who aren't smoking crack or meth to be drawn to downtown, rather then telling them that they can take their business elsewhere?
