Listening to some of my peers express their support for May's speech and approve of her "edginess" really bothers me. Even a local radio host of a modern music station said that he liked May's speech and was glad to see that she wasn't a "robot." Way to be a role model for young listeners, radio personality. Hey kids, if you want to be edgy and look smart, just swear your head off. Let everyone know you're not just a robot but rather a free thinker with an edge.
I suppose that the individuals supporting May's edginess care not for civil and respectful discourse. Apparently being "edgy" and sensationalist trumps cordiality, respect and integrity. Dropping an f-bomb, several times, during a "speech" is not cool, it's not edgy, it's not being human. It's uncalled for, it's blatant disregard for the persons being addressed, and it's behaviour that is unbecoming of a Canadian politician.
