As Greater Victoria residents rev up for Halloween, one of the most iconic spots offering both shivers and sweets won’t be around, having disappeared like some ephemeral spirit itself.

Scores of children and adults won’t be able to weave their way through the corn maze at North Saanich’s Pendray Farms, or make corn angles in its corn pit, because, well, both are gone, causing much consternation among local families.

“This was the best corn maze,” said Terri Dobree on the Peninsula Family Chat Facebook site.

I’m pretty sure one of the first dates Mrs. Mike K. and I went on was there. The haunted house was totally awesome. Far more elaborate than I could have ever imagined.

Thrill seekers could win $20K if they finish terrifying haunted house — but not one has yet

it appears to be just waterboarding and torture.  maybe not surprising nobody gets through it.

Haunted “house?” Try haunted room. It’s designed to make you want to quit right away, like sticking you into a freezer until you tap out. They also make you watch a 2 hour long video before allowing you in. By that point I’m sure most people already want to go for a beer and get on with their night.

An Oak Bay Halloween classic is on hold this year: the Pumpkin Art on the Avenue has been cancelled for 2019.

The family-favourite event saw thousands of pumpkins expertly carved and placed behind the Oak Bay municipal hall. In recent years, a feature artist who helped launch the tradition moved away, and in 2018 high school students helped bring more Pumpkin Art to life. This year, however, just hours after a tweet went up from Oak Bay Tourism reminding people of the event, a second tweet went up announcing it had been cancelled.

john vickers goes away (or is driven out of town) and the kite festival chalk festival buskers festival and now pumpkins in oak bay all go to heck.

i cry foul.   cities should not be "postponing" halloween or moving the date.  if the 31st don't work for some then so be it.  there is always next year.

Spooked by storm, Montreal postpones Halloween

https://www.cbc.ca/n...-wind-1.5341047

Montreal is joining several municipalities across Quebec in urging trick-or-treaters to delay going door-to-door for Halloween until Friday, due to a scary weather forecast that includes heavy rain and high winds.

oh come on boo hoo.  or booooooo hoo boooooo!

And yet, some 500 kilometres to the northwest in Rouyn-Noranda, 15 to 25 centimetres of snow is expected, but there are no plans in that community to cancel Halloween.

See what I mean? Montreal can’t even hold Halloween on Halloween.

The events associated with a holiday can be postponed, but the holiday itself will take place regardless.

The last anyone had seen 44-year-old baker Agnes Bings, she had been bracing herself against the wind and rain as she walked home on an unusually dark autumn night.

There were safer, more well-lit ways to get home, but Bings chose the fastest: Across the E&N railway bridge located roughly where the Johnson Street Bridge is now.

Laden down with packages, she had asked her brother Jordan to accompany her home, but he had refused, ostensibly because he was buried in a book.

The next day, Bings’ mangled body was found in Vic West, crumpled against a telegraph pole.

Only two days after Bings’ death, the owner of the Garrick’s Head Pub, Michael Powers, would be fatally bludgeoned in an act of suspected romantic retribution. Agent Number Five would be probing both killings while in Victoria.

It's not like Montreal not having Trick or Treating on the 31 is a new concept. Lot's of places host it the weekend before.
