The photo in the Victoria Times-Colonist newspaper shows Ms. Chrisman wearing a Victoria or Ewardian era dress over a matching pair of late 20th Century running shoes! Well, well. After reading the reviews on Amazon of her book on corsets, I'm not sure I like the sound of her, and since the Butchart Gardens website says clearly that costumes are not allowed, and since Gabriel and Sarah booked their tickets online in the true Victoria manner, LOL, I'm starting to smell something here. Could it be nothing but a PR stunt? Surely not!? "Demanding" that the Butchart Gardens pay the $40.00 plus for them to return to downtown Victoria by taxi, when they arrived by bus also strikes me as a little, shall we say "ill-bred". I wonder if their life includes such authenticities as a washboard and a mangle and well water to go with it?
Vox: "Every time I leave home I have to constantly be on guard against people who try to paw at and grope me. Dealing with all these things and not being ground down by them, not letting other people's hostile ignorance rob us of the joy we find in this life — that is the hard part. By comparison, wearing a Victorian corset is the easiest thing in the world."
Pawed and groped in Pt. Townsend? Could be me, but it just doesn't seem like that kind of town when I've been there. LOL.
