I think we can all agree that Victorians have never seen such Haiku-priced real estate.

A big tax Haiku might be the only way to cool things down.

Now I finally understand why we have a poet laureate on the payroll at City Hall.

Per the recent email that went out to those who registered on the project site:

  • Sales Centre will open in June
  • Units will be priced at $900 - $1200 per square foot

Perhaps the majority of units will be priced at over $1 million

The two bedrooms will be hovering around the $1 million mark.  I guess the one bedrooms will start around 550k+

I think there are some 3-bedroom units as well (perhaps on the penthouse level)?

I don't think there will be many 3-bedroom units with the exception of possibly one penthouse.  At 3 bedrooms and $1,000 a foot you would be getting into some massive numbers.

This rezoning will be discussed at Thursday's council meeting...there is a rental agreement attached as well. I suppose the city is not mandating the inclusion of rentals, but perhaps they will prohibit the future strata council from restricting rentals here.

Million dollar condos are going to be pretty steep rentals, but I am sure there is a market for such.

I am guess these will mostly be sold to owner-occupiers.

That's good news.  They need to get these projects fast tracked to ease housing shortages.  Go double density.................... where people WANT to live

This is before the council right now.  Isitt is on the fence as it doesn't contain any affordable housing component.  Loveday speaking now, will support it but feels it needs an affordable component.

When they say "affordable" do they use lesser materials in the construction, cheaper appliances or are they the same as every other unit in the building.

If they are the same they are "subsidized housing" not affordable housing.

I don't know.  He just said he wanted to see housing catering to the lower income end of the spectrum.

The camera was zoomed in on Mayor Helps so I don't know who voted which way.

Right, and it's subsidized by the other buyers/renters in the building, if no government program is involved.   And in that case, if there is a govt. program involved, it's subsidized by all of us.

Even without an "affordable housing" component? Did someone slip something into Ben's water bottle?

Oh ok. Well that's good since Alpha was already premarketing it.
