^Even the Mayor of Simpleton would realize this project would add vital density to an existing popular shopping/office/transit hub.

And particularly since Saanich has stated on several occasions they are actively looking to establish viable "cores", of which Uptown is obviously one; then again allow a 16-story 'behemoth' and well, dontcha know, you're on a slippery slope - its a mere additional 40-50 floors beyond that and we're apparently on an irreversible road to becoming another.......you know........"Vancouver"  :whyme:

Council voted unanimously to send the proposal to a public hearing. threeP's wrote me to say the hearing could take place some time in September.

So, not the next regularly scheduled public hearing on August 14? That would make it September 18, unless they schedule a special one for this project.

Public Hearing is tomorrow evening. Each individual party will still have to submit for a separate DP at future date.

And not surprisingly, another case of CRD-acrophobia is exposed.

...The proposal would see the Nigel Valley be home to multi-storey buildings, one five storeys and the other 16, which would be the tallest in Saanich...But that did not sit very well with some of the citizens who spoke at the public hearing, who said Saanich councillors agreed years ago to a maximum of 10 storeys...

Thank you.

So now we await for the Greater Victoria Housing Society to officially seek approvals for their building, which will be the first to move forward at the Valley. ThreeP's, is that correct?

Large developments might ruin the Uptown area.

Totally.  We should be setting up more tent cities instead.
