Uhh now that I was just inside a building on the Yates block... the future residents will surely have a lot of noise complains from the club literally next door. At least they'll know what to do if they're bored on a Friday night.

It's funny how people and the things that people do are never a good mix.

Just an observation. You know what I mean? Living in [insert new development here] would be hell because there would be a daycare, or a restaurant, or a coffee shop, etc.

Yeah I know what you mean. But I was in a concrete apartment with everything closed and the beat was still loud enough to give me a headache lol. Thumping low frequencies are the worst for mitigating on your own.

Even the smells issues can be legitimate. But I'm just wondering why the building that has a club in it must always be fully occupied by people who don't want anything to do with a club, or why the building that has a daycare in it must always be fully occupied by people who don't want anything to do with kids, etc. If the building has a great view of the floatplanes then it must always be fully occupied by people who don't want anything to do with the floatplanes...

I suppose the oldest example of this would be subdivisions near airports. Such neighbourhoods never seem to attract anyone who loves airplanes.

It won't be long before that complex is redeveloped.

If a person doesn't like the sights, sounds, smells and activity of the city, there is a VERY simple solution: live someplace else.

Exactly, go live in a golf course community... and then complain about golfers and golf balls.

You have to expect noise of one sort of another if living right downtown.

I for one hope the music venue sticks around for a while, but I'm a music photographer that goes there multiple times a year. Being able to have a one minute walk will be wonderful for me.

I'm more concerned about the noise of ambulances and police cars stopping at the building across the street on Johnson frequently. At least the Yates building has air conditioning so people can keep windows shut. Vivid, not so much.

Lol I know guys, it's just that for some reason people understand rock concerts get really loud so they seldom run late nowadays, but for whatever reason they're ok with a DJ cranking up the bass to 11 until 2 am even though it's a lot harder to mitigate low frequencies. Figured I'd make that observation because no size of earmuffs will let involuntary listeners deal with it.

I'm sure this has been answered but I'm too lazy to scroll through the thread, will these buildings be off set from each other or will they be constructed 'side by side'?

Glad to see some progress on the Vivid side. Exciting to have 2 cranes on one project.  :)

Perhaps if you ask nicely, they can haul it up on the crane now and it can be the first one to be installed.

Same.

Not knowing a lot about building construction, I'm curious how the crane is going to get removed and how those leftover gaps of the tower are going to be completed/filled in.
