Hey VV'ers - I am on a quest for some examples of heritage buildings that historically had floors added to them. We know that there are a lot downtown that had floors removed but what about the other way? I know there were a few that added floors in the lead up to prohibition so that they could keep their pub license. Any other examples that still stand that you know of?

That is a cool article. How about some more local examples? I know that the Dominion Hotel and the Oriental Hotel both expanded after the initial structure but any other ones that anyone can think of?

I am not sure if it's considered heritage, but the Strathcona Hotel got wider in the late 1980s. Of course the Empress has grown many times since its initial construction.

As did the former Customs House, but it was an extension built in the 1950’s.

The Parliament building got bigger, no?

Know it all.

This one got a little higher. Rattenbury built the original part for BC Electric Company.

Yep. Rattenbury was hired back and added the library etc. Here's a tour: https://my.matterpor.../?m=ULjKvMQ2Y7i
