hi everybody...

i loathe to start threads simply b/c its usually lazyness failing to find the correct topic/subtopic, but here i am.  sorry.

1. how can it be the Q doesnt have their own thread?

2. really sorry for starting a thread with the following negative comment.

3. ~sorry!

today during the afternoon, i was listening to them and heard somebody important doing one of those rare on-air apologies.  i only caught the last half of it, but he spoke for probably a good 2-3 minutes.  i just tried looking this up on the interwebs and cannot find any information.  any chance one of our VV brothers or sisters caught it and/or know what im talking about?

details:

- who: somebody big (station manager, on-air director, communications manager...)

- apology to: destination greater(?) victoria, restaurant association of victoria(?)

- regarding: some kind of comment by a dj, a radio ad, a comical gesture... about 'dine-around & stick around' coming up

it sounded really serious like he offended the entire world apologising on behalf of so-and-so, apologising for the comments not representing the station or their parent company, ensuring listeners they uphold the high standards of the CRTC, promising they can and will do better... blah blah blah...

sorry everybody.  just one of those things thats killing me curiosity wise.

Other than Cliff LeQuesne, who has been in the radio biz since before forever and who is a very good guy, I have never been a Q fan really since Day 1 but the station PD (Program Director) is or was at least a guy named Mark Addams, so I'm guessing it was he who made whatever 'apology' you heard. Suggest you browse their website to see if you can either find a direct link or maybe an audio clip of the commentary.

ah yes, reddit.  fantastic idea.  i definitely didnt think about that.

just curious why you didnt include the link?

* 100% not trying to be a troll or call you out or imply anything whatsoever.

* just wondering if there is some protocol here against painting others negatively here on VV.

Could have been on mobile, pressed for time or some other reason. But they did help point you in the right direction.

Sounds like somehow a bad creative idea slipped all the way through to being on air.

I recall some years ago the Zone had a content to see if men who wore clothing purchased at Walmart could still pick up women at the bar.

How that content made it to real life is well beyond me.

Know it all.

*opps, contest.

The only other option in Victoria for men’s clothing is Costco. This town has the fashion selection of Kamloops.

Hudson's Bay.

The Bay used to be a go-to place for sure for men's dress shoes, especially Florsheim and Bostonians etc; occasionally I went there for sport jackets until that day when I lived in Vancouver and the clerk came over while I was trying on a jacket at Pacific Centre and dismissively blew me off with "....a guy YOUR size buying off the rack? Never gonna happen!" Then walked away.

This is when I was into lifting seriously heavy weights and fitting pants and jackets was problematic. He may have been right - but nevertheless that is NOT how you treat a customer so I never went back.

Always wished there was a Harry Rosen in Victoria.. Of course you'd have to take out a second mortgage to afford their stuff but the quality was/is first rate.

Not a chance I'm spending $150 on pants.

It's a nightmare finding anything that fits too.
