If you have to "add value" then why are you bothering in the first place? I agree that better food and beer selections helps but if the main attraction is not enough to bring people out then you have a bigger problem. People don't go to BC Lions Games to play slot machines, attend a whisky tasting class or watch highland dancers.

Have you seen what goes on before the game even begins? The area around BC Place is a party zone -- and that's an attraction in and of itself. The game just happens to follow.

The problem with the Rebels is they're out in the middle of nowhere. Who in their right mind wants to drive to the west shore to attend a football game then worry about being stopped at a road block after having a beer? Public transit out there is miserable and the taxi fare back home is going to run you $40.

Magnify that by 12x for the tail-gating around NFL games.

Well you could always have a designated driver for the night, or use the services of one of the companies that drive you and your car home.

I guess you missed where I talked about having entertainment and dining options nearby before and after the games.

Yep. And no amount of sideshows is gonna change that.

15,000 people go to Rock the Shores, in the middle of nowhere, for a major sideshow.

What do you mean middle of nowhere? It's at Juan de Fuca transit exchange.

People have been saying, in this thread, that people like to go to sporting events at downtown stadiums/arenas, because there are dining/drink options nearby.  There are none near Q Centre.

Rock the Shores is a music festival not an add-on to a sporting event.  WTF does that prove? Are you suggesting Rebels football should play as a sideshow to Rock the Shores?!?!

Much better location for sure but also to compare a music festival which lasts for days to a sporting event which lasts a few hours at most is absurd.

Yeah those are two completely different things entirely.

If Rock the Shores featured Yanni and the Trololo Guy you'd hear crickets in between sets.

Heck, people travel for days to get to Burning May, Shambala, etc. Music festivals can be just about anywhere and people will make the effort to see them.

Rebels won the top in BC tonight after a win over the Okanagan Suns at West Shore Stadium.

Canadian junior final will be in Langford on November 12th. Time TBC. Great value for $15 entry, pretty high level football (most of the time).

Indeed, sometimes when the ball goes in the air, you wonder what might happen though...

Saskatoon takes 2016 Canadian Bowl over our Westshore Rebels 37-25. Hang your heads high guys on an amazing season.

Was a decent game. No idea of attendance by number, but eye-balling it seemed to be about twice what they normally have out. Continues to be good quality football for twenty bucks. And Saskatoon was a great team to watch, I was impressed with the Rebels effort today but the best team came out on top for sure.

The best offence in the B.C. Football Conference meets the best defence Saturday in a battle for first place on the Lower Mainland.

The Westshore Rebels head to Langley to face the defending league champion Rams. Both teams are undefeated at 3-0.

The Westshore Rebels had plenty to think about during their bye week, which came after their first loss of the B.C. Football Conference season, a 65-29 drubbing two weeks ago in Kelowna at the hands of the league-leading Okanagan Sun.

Rested and refocused, the Rebels (3-1) meet the Kamloops Broncos (2-2) today at 4 p.m. at Starlight Stadium in Langford.

“We had a great week of practice and are ready to go,” said Westshore head coach Shane Beatty.
