^Additionally this section of creek was full of invasive trees that were starting to choke the creek which could cause flooding.

Most the trees that they cut down at the start of the current project had grown back over 15 years since the last time they were cut down and the creek dredged out. This seems like more of a long-term fix.

It still comes out from underground one more time before it hits the ocean.

This is the only water quality fecal count I can find for Bowker Creek, was way down the last couple years, I assume this is mostly due to the fixing of cross connections. Would like to see what the last 15 years were like.

Maybe don't need to fear the "Bowker Juice" anymore?

Most people forget about all the hidden parts of Bowker Creek.

The public got its first look Tuesday at the restoration of a section of Bowker Creek that flows alongside Oak Bay High School property.

- See more at: http://www.timescolo...h.i4fGl95B.dpuf

Except if the public had been following this thread, they would have had a look back in July 2015

Thanks for the heads-up, sparky!

$70,000-study-to-assess-'daylighting'-opportunities-for-Bowker-Creek-Watershed.jpg

Bowker Creek, which originates in the District of Saanich and flows through the City of Victoria before emptying into the Salish Sea along the shores of Oak Bay, will undergo a 'daylighting' feasibility study next year. The practice of daylighting enhances urban green spaces and waterways typically in-tandem with real-estate development efforts.

cities spend years and hundreds of thousands "daylighting" bowker creek.

it returns the favour by flooding people out.

Bowker Creek, an eight-kilometre-long freshwater creek, flows from a wetland at the University of Victoria campus south through mostly underground pipes and culverts, with the final 2.5 kilometres open in Oak Bay. It empties near Glenlyon-Norfolk school. The creek rose up the banks on Monday, threatening nearby homes, but by Tuesday it had receded.

Pretty sure there is no Pacific Street in Oak Bay ... there's a Pacific Avenue, but it's nowhere near Bowker Creek.

The house obviously flooded, but it would be interesting to know with some accuracy where it actually was ... Although it wouldn't have had anything to do with Bowker Creek, if the house was on Pacific Avenue.

Pretty sure they haven’t daylighted any of it spent lots of money covering it up though. Not as much sewage going into it these days lot of the cross connections fixed. I had to laugh at the idea of putting fish into it: https://www.vicnews....salmon-habitat/ A few small sea bug like things do crawl up a little ways I forget what they’re called however.

I suppose his storm drain could ultimately flow to the creek high water causing it to back up but I doubt it: https://vibrantvicto...-1444007554.png

Up until about five had a reoccurring dream of falling into Bowker Creek the weird part is always woke up just as I was falling in don’t get me wrong my stroller had already fallen in the creek in “real life“.. twice at this point. True story. You haven’t seen Bowker Creek until you walk the whole thing inside and out.

I think some/lots of the flooding was not directly over the banks of bowker . but storm drains leading to it were no longer flowing towards it in some cases. Instead water was bubbling up FROM some sites.

I just have a hard time believing it because the water gets up about that level quite frequently? Maybe a different problem plugging the storm drain?

if all storm drains were perfectly clear damage might be less. probably several problems.

The first obstacle for fish would be the Beach Drive Bridge bit of a gap in the water levels on the far side. (last time I checked/sometimes)
