Yeah, I noticed the new signs, too. A good start. It's technically my neighbourhood pub but truthfully I'd rather go east to Maude Hunters or the Smuggler's Cove in Cordova Bay. The interior of the Monkey Tree hasn't been changed since the 80s and it shows. It's not as bad as The Bird of Paradise pub but that's not saying much.

I've been once. Found it full of cougars, and had a couple of drunks. Meh.

Monkey Tree Pub has finally updated their signage, looks much more urban and less... well... tacky. Now if they'd paint the exterior of their building a more urban colour, I imagine it's get people to go in and see if things have changed.

I drive by it twice a day, every weekday and have never set foot in it. And it's technically my 'neighbourhood pub' I suppose. Don't know if it's even kid-friendly. It's such an odd location and entrance!

Thread resurrection award of the week!

The title of the thread is misleading though -  unless of course the pub IS closed tonight. :squint:

They recently finished an extensive renovation but it looks like it was mostly to the back of the house.

If I'm celebrating 30 years of my pub - one of the first neighbourhood pubs in all of BC - I'm whipping it up for at least a week.   And my picture of Tal Bachman will be a lot better.  He looks half hockey mullet guy and half this guy:

No, only the 8th.  We opened it on February 29th, 2008.  The just-under-roof signage has survived over 8 years.  Not sure if the province will take it down now.
