Louise heard the siren song of government communications. She'll do well. She is very personable.

So Bell has made a decision that means that CTV Vancouver Island will show an NFL football game instead of the 5pm and 6pm newscasts locally here on Thursdays for the NFL season.
That's a bit of a gamble, I'd think.
Especially considering that NFL TV viewership is down overall stateside (and live attendance and overall support for the league are also on a downhill slide) on account of the Colin Kaepernick fiasco and those players who decided to copycat him. Thanks, CTV VI, but no thanks - I'll stick with our Canucks.

They will lose news viewers, big time. If people are used to switching to CHEK on Thursdays to watch a local newscast, that can grow into a habit. "What day was it again that CTV doesn't have a newscast? Oh, never mind, just leave it on 6."

That depends. Who does a better newscast? Neither are particularly great. If there is a reason that people watch CTV VI over CHEK to begin with (favourite personality, segment, etc). then they will probably just deal with the 16 weekdays a year that there's no 6pm newscast and stick with their habits. Personally I record CTV's 11pm news and watch it when convenient for me. Couldn't care less about football.

Nanaimo fire deaths...
"But CTV News has obtained video from the crime scene showing bodies that do not appear to be burned." -
Well first of all that's a hell of a crazy statement, most people in fires, no the overwhelming majority, die from smoke inhalation, not fire to their bodies.

I've started watching CTV Vancouver news in the morning as I find Global so darn annoying with all that junk on the screen. Our tv isn't a giant one and now everything is so small I can't see any of.

I hate watching anything with a news crawl going across the bottom of the screen.

I like the news crawl I don't even read it but it comforts me I like a lot going on on my screen.
