Good t' hear, thanx G-Man!

Holy business name change, Batman! :D

Anudder update or two with the new businesses going in 'round the Village...

Moving into the old Bubby Roses Bakery is Chef Cosmo Meen's (sic) 'The Soup Pedalar' which, as seen on sign, will offer vegetarian, vegan and local meat entrees and is 'opening soon'.

Meanwhile, at the old laundromat site, a new sign proclaims not Zambri's, but Big Wheel Burgers, opening December 2011.

All hail the return of Booster Juice as the first advertised shop which will be going in at Castana's retail space! How kool is it that it even will occupy, give or take a few feet, its original location it had years ago in the Village! :)

My next peeperpalooza will be how the Cook St. Village Food Court 'L-section', from the established kiosks on McKenzie St. to the connectiing almost-vacant parking lot on Cook St., evolves over time. Y'all know anything more on prospective kiosks there, apart from the info sign at the fenced entrance?

Byee for now, Villagers and chatacha later!

Aha! Here's a touching article on the last day of Sunbrite Laundromat in business: :(

http://www.bclocalne...tml?mobile=true

Now, back to Ambrosio Market fer a sec... Candace and Carey must be as giddy as a kid at Christmas! :D They're now set to reopen tomorrow, Friday October 7th. at 9 am. Congrats both and many more happy and lucrative years serving the Village! :D

Chattin' laters!

Hold the presses again! :o

Seems there's no longer an Ambrosio Market. Upon reopening, the Baths renamed their store The Tin Roof Market and Deli!

I wonder if we'll see any cats with burned paws in there... ;)

Again, congratz with the great reno and, to borrow a line from a great logician, live long and prosper there! :)

I was surprised to read that the name of the owners in Dolt's post. Last I heard, a young Croatian guy bought it from John a couple of years back. I used to go all the time when his sister ran it, but it just went downhill after she left - especially once they bought out Il Posto.

Interestingly, the Ambrosio that they opened up in James Bay didn't last, either. They seem to get into the trap of opening up delis in high rent locations and then floundering. Too bad. I hope the new place gets it right.

Gumgum, Tin Roof reopened on Friday, Oct. 7 and was open next day, but they're off to their T'Day festivities yesterday and today. Open as usual again from tomorrow on, to next holiday, I reckon. Hope that helps. :)

So.... thought I'd patronize the aforementioned Cook St. Village Food Court for my last two dinners, and I wasn't disappointed!

One meal consisted of a RICO Salsa Mexican combo, chicken burrito and tortilla chip soup! :o Altogether, quite flavouricious and filling.

The next dinner came from the other end of the establishment, Messob Ethiopian Cuisine, and a spicy beef combo: your basic meat and vegetable comfort food, Ethiopian style, complete with injera, a floppy dough used to grab the rest of the meal with.... have a napkin handy! Again, very palate-pleasing and filling.

Well done, RICO and Messob! Y'all please get out and patronize them too so they don't go *POOF* like some other local favourites! :(

Well, what's my next mission? Maybe checking out the Village's holy trinity of coffee to catch their lunchtime offerings! (Psst: Serious is advertising a tempting noonhour special, not to be missed!)

Okies, chatacha again soon!

Hey Bob!

Yup, it's still the krinkle and the jingle only they want at the food court, I'm still checking now and then and will post if payment options there should change. :)

Let us know what kind of lunch offering they have at the Serious Coffee. If it is something other than a microwave quessidilla, I will go there.

I wonder if they realize that a lot of folks would be more inclined to stop in if they didn't have to remember or bother to stop for cash beforehand. I've lived in the Village since 2007 and for that reason, I've only ever eaten there once.

Both the Mexican place and the sushi bar take credit cards now.

Well! I should really get out more often... now look what's going on in the Village!! :o

The Rainbird Boutique is now open for all your inclement-weather clothing needs. Haven't been in yet but looks like a good selection of gumboots, raincoats and brollies!

Booster Juice, next door, is now seemingly days away from opening their doors to a cheery and, considering their past shop there, a more spacious environ conducive to getting your vitamin C. :)

The Big Wheel's about to roll through the Village! Burger fare that is, again in a matter of days. Perusing their menu card, I see they will serve up burger or hot dog specials with chips and shakes, poutine!, beer and wine among the beverage offerings and even a gluten-free selection.

Finally, I see that Chef Meens has his reno crew busy getting The Soup Pedalar ready to launch soon too!

Any more eateries locate here and we'll be known as Food Street Village! Happy gnoshing everyone and don't ferget to have some fun at the Senior Centre's Christmas Fair in December! :D

I hear the Cafe Fantastico coffee bar in the food court is or is about to be closing due to a disagreement with the landlord? Too bad I think out of them all they had the best lattes. Oh well I guess I'll have to go to the one at Kings and Quadra.

Fantastico in the village has been gone at least a week now... a new coffee shop is opening in it's place, I can't remember the name. I don't think it's a chain, though.
