Cook N' Pan Polish deli in North Park at 1725 Cook St. is under new ownership and is celebrating 10 years in business.

The previous owner has sold the place to a couple from Edmonton who have moved out to Victoria to operate the deli.

I don't know what changes, if any, there will be to the offerings or the operation itself.

But they no longer have my Kasha Mana. My life is a little bit emptier without that creamy goodness. Maybe they will get it in if I whine enough.

Cook n’ Pan Polish deli’s new owner puts his money on North Park
By VibrantVictoria.ca

Ten years after one of Victoria’s most iconic delicatessens opened its doors in Victoria’s North Park neighbourhood, Cook n’ Pan Polish Delicatessen is under new ownership. And if the man at the helm has his way, which is likely considering his amiable persona and enthusiastic plans for building on the eatery’s success, Cook n’ Pan will become more than just a Polish food fix.

“I want Victorians to know that the deli is not only a place to pick up Polish meats and cheeses or grab a meal, it’s a meeting place. It’s a place to chat, to philosophize,” says Michal Tkaczyk (pronounced Me-how Tik-a-chick) when discussing plans for attracting a broader range of clientele to Cook n’ Pan. “I look all around me, and I see so many people coming and going through this neighbourhood, frequenting its bakeries, restaurants and services. Everything seems to be coming together around here and I want to ensure that I do my part to keep building on the area’s positive momentum,” he said. [...]

Great idea and hope he does well.

But he may want to bring back the HANDMADE perogies the previous owner made a killing on, and ditch the frozen crap perogies he is attempting to pass-off as homemade. Honestly, if you tasted them before and now - NO comparison.

I really like the mushroom perogies the most but the cheddar cheese perogies are not my thing. I don't even think cheddar cheese is used in making authentic pegories so it must be something he's offering just because they are popular.

Cook N' Pan is closed.

The word on the street is that another business operator had offered a higher lease rate for the premises than what Cook N' Pan was able to pay, and this forced the closure. The plan as far as I understand is to seek out a downtown Victoria location over the near-term.

Another Pot Dispensary ?

One would assume. Especially if the landlord can now receive his rent in cash.

There already is a pot dispensary in that little mall.

Some of the best perogies in town. Hope they continue operations elsewhere sooner than later!

The old King's Deli on Fort street would be a good spot for them to move and wouldn't take much renovations.  I wonder if that spot has already filled.

I checked and 773 Fort Street is still up for lease.  Might be a good if it fits their budget.

That is a great little deli; we usually make a point of picking up something when in the area. Mrs ASE is Ukrainian descent and not surprisingly loves their perogies. Hope they are able to find another location and open again soon.

I am not sure "Fort N' Bland" would have the same ring to it as "Cook N' Pan".

After more than a year and a half of struggle, it has become clear that we need to focus on the promotion of our business. We have a wonderful space, a great selection of product and potential to make the business grow, but we need to attract customers. We are fundraising to secure funds for advertising, promotion and outreach in order to bring more people into the space – a space that we have poured love and passion into. We would like to hire a professional who, with our help, will create a business strategy aimed at advertising, press, canvassing as well as connecting with potential clients and customers via telephone, e-mail and in person.
