Was walking on Johnson St. today and noticed that the Martier School of Hair is closed. Signs on the door indicate that it had lost its ability to certify people as licensed as of May 3. Another sign says they hadn't paid their rent.

Wonder how many students just got screwed?

I can't speak to recent Martier school students, but when I was in my 20's.... :D

Seriously though, don't all the cool girls go to the AVEDA place now?

Yes, the esthetics of a sudden closure don't look good.

Feel bad for the people who paid all that money, their education won't be all that valuable anymore I guess.

Don't feel too bad - there is consumer protection legislation which means that they will either get a refund or alternative arrangements, funded by government (actually, administered by government, funded by industry).

As part of a school's registration/accreditation with PCTIA, it is required to pay a monthly fixed fee of $1,200 up to 1% of its income of the previous month into the Student Training Completion Fund, which provides either alternative arrangements so that students that can continue their education or a refund, in instances which a school has closed down.
