Upon entering we noticed no staff. I just wanted a quick look at the menu to see if I wanted to stay or not but no one helped us. A single waitress walked by and said a quick "hi" as she went past. Finally I just went behind the counter and grabbed a menu and we looked at it. Prices were a bit bad, but I was hungry and after a nice bike ride I wanted to sit and have a snack by the water. The whole time we're looking at the menu not a single staff member says anything to us.
We move out to the patio and are struck by the clientele. Most are large groups of rich tourists and the popped-collar crowd, but we managed to find a nice table as it wasn't too busy.
We sit and wait. A waitress comes over and I make eye contact. She veers away and asks another table how their food is, fills up their water and walks off.
We wait another few min, another waitress walks by after I make eye contact and the usual "hi, we'd like some service" body language. Nothing, no "someone will be with you shortly" nothing.
We waited 10 min with staff buzzing around doing low-priority tasks like checking in on already served customers, cleaning and setting tables, and seemingly pointlessly wandering around.
We got up and left, never going back. If I want over-priced waterfront pub food I'll go to Canoe next time.

I was head to toe in Calvin Klein, I think it's just awful service.
Yeah, but was it CK hot pink spandex?

Hey I take exception to your disbaraging remark about Canoe it is a very decent place!
It is nice! But you pay a heavy "waterfront tax" . I wasn't disparaging Canoe, as it does over-priced waterfront pub food RIGHT.

Baro - were you wearing regular clothes or bike gear? Wouldn't be surprised if they ignored clients who didn't look the way they wanted. My feeling on the place is that is pretentious and pretty poor on the food side of thing.
The service at Glo is consistently terrible, regardless of what you are wearing. It's the only pub I've ever been to where the servers are happy to let a table full of customers sit there with nothing in front of them (or with empty glasses if they were lucky enough to get served at some point) indefinately, despite all of the body language, gesturing, etc. Their behaviour borders on rude, and I wonder what the owners would think if they knew their staff were behaving that way. I don't go there anymore as a result.

We went back for lunch just last week, hoping carefully selected lunch dishes might be ok, and going mainly to sit by the water. The food was merely bad rather than laughably incompetent---worse than average Victoria pub food, at moderately higher prices. We didn't notice any problems with the service either time we went (although we were the only people there the first time, so they didn't have much of an excuse to ignore us).
If you're looking for a view don't forget most views from their patio are of the auto wrecker immediately across a short stretch of water. Still, it's a nice location and a nice building.
In short, this place should die and be replaced with something serving half-decent food, and perhaps one day the city will rezone the light industrial out of that area and it'll have a great view, too.
FWIW I can't stand Med Grill either: dull, cafeteria-quality fare.

You mean at Royal Oak? I don't get cafeteria-quality from them at all. I have always enjoyed my meals there and I love sitting on their deck with a glass of wine when the weather is nice.

Haven't tried Glo and aren't itching to after reading these impressions.

They do have a very strong beer list - a decent place to enjoy a summer evening beer on the waterfront.
And barge loads of flattened cars floating by are pretty cool.
