Dylan's been in England three months and he's already forgotten our culture. "Here in Blighty we call them "dance hall lasses"" he says.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

A Langford pub is bringing in exotic dancers, joining several other B.C. bars that are looking to strippers to improve business.

The dancers are expected to debut June 20 at Ma Miller's Pub on Sooke Lake Road, where owner Dan Stephenson said he is struggling with declining revenue.

If they are zoned for strippers and want to have strippers then who is anyone to say otherwise. If you don't like it then don't go there. I hope that Langford council is smart enough to realize that if they want to promote that they are open for business then it has to be all legitimate business and not just want they want or have an interest in.

As someone pointed out somewhere, kids aren't allowed in, naked dancers are not spilling into the street at 3pm as school gets out, and any 13-year-old worth his salt has seen way more than what exotic dancers do - on his smartphone.

For those who want to find out more about how the locals feel go to Goldstream Community Facebook. There you can read letters written and responses. It's an interesting read.

I think plans have changed again, and they are not going to do dancers.

I like to keep an open mind about these things, but in all fairness, I had reasons outside my control recently..... to have lunch at the famed Lione Rouge.

4-staff...bartender, waitress, disc jockey, stripper.

8- customers

There was a time where if you didn't get there early for lunch on a Friday, you simply couldn't find a chair.

Times have changed. Ma Millers has been in operation since before my father was born.

If they need to change their business model in order to survive, I'm not sure going the peeler route is the path to take.

Maybe "Drag Queen Bingo" might be a better option.

^ I wonder though, Sparky.

If you walked in there, and were met with the kind of cheeriness you'd walk into at Cactus Club at 12noon, would it make difference? I often find one of the differences is that the staff at strip clubs are not as, er, well-skilled in hospitality industry traits, they tend to be sort of jaded old-school staffers. I honestly think if it was done right, it could still be a popular daytime haunt.

Plans to introduce strippers at a bar in the Goldstream neighbourhood in Langford have been scrapped.

The owner of Ma Miller's Pub has reportedly cancelled a five-year contract with bar manager Dale Stephenson, who hoped exotic dancers would save the struggling business he operated for the past year.

Absolutely VHF, it's not about the steak....it's all about the sizzle.

A little of this ....a little of that....

In fairness the Lione Rouge serves a veggie prawn spring roll that is to die for. $6....and you need to be hungry to eat it all.

They need marketing help. They need to add some excitement to the mix.

Perhaps a whole new angle on the meat draw. :)

Victoria has an active burlesque scene. I wonder if the clubs could rebound with less sleaze, more tease?

You have to wonder if this may have been a ploy to get out of the lease. If so then it obviously worked.

Someone I know who is in property management told me flat out last weekend when we drove by it and commented on the upcoming peeler bar going on said, no way. The story is that they wanted out of the lease. They threatened it. The community cried out and the owner had no other option than to rid him from the lease.

I'm picking up internet chatter indicating Ma Miller's has now closed up.
