He's awaiting word on bots accounts. Could be negotiating tactic, these things do not always run smoothly.

That is what he says. If nothing else, he doesn't want to pay what he offered now that tech stock prices have dropped 20% in the past week.

Smart.
Not saying he isn't smart, just that the way he does things is questionable and often results in non-billionaires getting burned.

If the deal goes through, plenty of people going to make plenty of money. Including those that buy shares TODAY.
That’s the market.

If he buys it out it's not a big upside from here though. Buying today would mean you get $14/share IF he sticks to his original offer. Poor pot odds. especially if the deal falls through.

So even Musk has concerns about bots on Twitter. Little Mike K needs to go cry in a corner now .
Lets say Twitter does satisfactorily prove less than 5% are bots/spam accounts. Thats still up to 10m bot accounts.

BTC has nothing but faith to prop it up now. That or Musk buying it to prop it up I suppose. What's another $1.5bn....

On Thursday evening Musk tweeted, "Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to transform the country, but actually everyone just wanted less drama."

It's not really his transformation plan though.
WEF 13 Jul 2020:
To build back better, we must reinvent capitalism. Here's how
Thanks to the ongoing pandemic, the world is off-balance – and it will remain so for years to come. Far from settling into a 'new normal', we should expect a COVID-19 domino effect, triggering further disruptions – positive as well as negative – over the decade ahead.
The wave of civil unrest that spread across America and beyond recently may be one example; it seems likely that the pandemic contributed to the context in which anger and despair boiled over into outrage and unrest following the death of George Floyd. Other possible COVID-induced discontinuities ahead range from a full-blown financial crisis to a step change in the rate of the global energy transition: some analysts now reckon that fossil fuel demand may have peaked in 2019 – for good.
A true recovery from COVID-19 will not be about putting things back together the way they were: we need to ‘build back better’, to 'reset', if we are to address the deep systemic vulnerabilities the pandemic has exposed. For businesses, building back better is about much more than corporate social responsibility: it is about truly aligning markets with the natural, social and economic systems on which they depend. It is about building real resilience, driving equitable and sustainable growth, and reinventing capitalism itself.

Build Back Better is dead in every country because nobody bought into the bulkshit. Least of all the private sector.
It’s all good.
That's my read too.

Whoa, whoa, back that up for a second. He’s referring to lame-o spam bots, designed to badly sell people on fast cash and entertainment, using simple tools for auto posting, but still counted as active users. Twitter has a business case to consider them active users, for obvious reasons. So even Musk has concerns about bots on Twitter. Little Mike K needs to go cry in a corner now .
Lets say Twitter does satisfactorily prove less than 5% are bots/spam accounts. Thats still up to 10m bot accounts.
But we’re not talking sophisticated Russian spy bots that make you believe you’re taking with a neighbour, that influence you on how you vote.

In a similar vein, Netflix is telling its woke employees to quit if they can't deal with opinions that are different then their own. https://www.foxbusin...ed-culture-memo
The tide is turning. As we enter a recession and life gets tougher for people there is going to be no tolerance for progressive BS.
