I'm looking for a barber downtown - any recommendations? State the shop name and location, barber's name and price for a regular cut if you can.

I always forget his name, but in the 600-blk Johnson there is a guy, he's either $15 or $17. I went to him for a few years, only left as I made a deal with a client.

Not quite downtown but Burt's Barbershop in James Bay is great. I think he just raised his regular price to $19.

When I used to get haircuts I always went to the one on Skinner/Craigflower in Vicwest acorss from Chicken on the Run.
Owner operated 2 chairs and nice guys. $17 or $18
Free parking all over the place too.

I go the same place as HB. Great conversation while you are getting your ears lowered.

I am glad someone else knows of this place. as far as I am concerned it is one of the best barber shops ive ever been too. Never have to wait too long and as mentioned good conversation and a table full of magazines.

I'm in the process of splicing my Rooba with my Flowbee, and hoping that it'll cut my hair while I sleep.

I mean, what could go wrong?

I used to go to Shaky Bill's, and in those days they still shaved behind the ears.

If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to wait for a half hour, the atmosphere is delightful. The chairs came from the legion in Ladysmith, the magazines are what you would expect in a barber shop. The barber that I like....turned me on to music from Buddha bar.....go ahead Google it and find out what you have been missing.

There is nothing like some good tunes when someone is frolicking with your follicles.

Cliff is okay, but he used to work for the best barber in town, James who owns the Western Gentleman near Tillicum. In the strip mall with Mr. Tubbs, Marble Arch, etc. James is the man - you can tell him I sent you, but it won't help!

I think it's $14 for a cut, I always leave $20 anyways. He's a busy man, worth the wait, bare bones shop but the cuts are great.

Cash only!!

It's a tough call, spend the afternoon in vic west (spiral cafe, Fry's) or Saanich (mr tubbs, marble arch and pretty soon the Hampton Field concession!).

Matt.

I swung by Cliff's Classic Barber Shop yesterday for a tune up. We had a ton of laughs. Rolf, the guy on the right will connect you with music from around the world that you didn't know existed.

Effectively reducing his tip (in many cases, depending on pocket change) to $1 from $3. So he's probably paying more tax now :)

Always enjoy Burt. Been going to that location since about 1992.

Since most barbers deal in cash, there are no records of how many cuts a day they are doing, so that $20 can often go right into the pocket.

Greg! That's his name. Or at least the name he used when he called into CFAX this morning.

Oak Bay's finest establishment:

Happy days at Oak Bay Barber

A lot of jokes get exchanged at Happy Coxford’s Oak Bay Barber Shoppe.

It’s part of what keeps his customers coming back and Happy, well, happy.

“It’s my sense of humour, no doubt about it,” laughs Coxford, who celebrates 25 years in business this week.

I see this thread is a little old, but I have never had a bad cut at Brothers on Fort St. $13

VHF isn't that where you go?
