I have been working hard to try and track old film clips of BC, many of which are from Victoria.

I will be posting mine in this thread, if you know of others, please post them here as well

I really like this one from the 1930s because of how crisp the image is

Did we already talk about this set of colour films?? Damn.

One thing that really jumps out about 1930s/1940s Victoria... there was so much colourful/distinctive signage, and I don't just mean the neon (but there was also a ton of neon).

Also, the ground floor of the Permanent Loan/Bank of Toronto Building was magnificent. Just an unbelievable loss.

At roughly the 45-second mark of this video you can see the previous Central School, but what's the fairly large building at the [correction: west] end of the field?

Would that be the original school, and the one occupying the spot where the current Central School stands is the Rattenbury-designed high school built in 1902?

I guess you're right, it must be the original school/boys' school? Tower aficionados should check out the tower on this place:

Doesn't seem quite right. I'm confused. If Mike K. could offer a month of free posts to anyone who can resolve this mystery that would be great.

The building on the right is the one in the background of the previous photo.

You can see the bell tower of the Victoria Fire Hall at top left.

That's Bobby Jones just to the left of Fred Brown.

That's a hell of a thing. Just imagine how different Victoria would be today if it had continued to fill in the gaps instead of knocking old stuff down and opening things up.
