This was created as an experimental alt currency. A means of exchange. It’s too far gone from that now to even go back. It’s a perversion. It’s going to eventually be targeted by regulators, governments, other early adopters will break ties. The magic box that you put your dollar in and turn it into a thousand dollars is simply to disruptive to the world economy.

Russia says it will legalize it.

He would have better odds placing it all on Red at the Roulette table. There is no obvious reason to be involved with Bitcoin apart from gambling. Its vaporware and doesn't exist except in binary code.

Not to forget it can be hacked https://www.reuters....h-idUSKBN1E10AQ

When it stopped being used as a transaction currency and became strictly an investment tool, it lost its intrinsic value.

See!   I knew we needed Site C for something.  Also, is bitcoin farming allowed on the ALR?

Was listening to a show on the radioon all the problems and benefits from the Bitcoin farming along the Columbia in Washington State. Listening to that show and them talking about Bitcoin boom towns was finally proof to me that we are living in the future.

It’s the strangest thing, for sure.

We fret about unplugging our phone chargers to preserve a tiny trickle of electricity and meanwhile massive warehouses of servers are whirring away churning out pointless calculations so nerds, speculators and criminals can have their funny money.

Exactly.

We celebrate the $15M expansion of Nanaimo's airport and the increase in direct flights to the east, when air travel - especially non-essential leisure travel -  is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions.

Crypto-exchange boss dies, taking password with him.

Troubled Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX owes its customers $190 million and cannot access most of the funds, according to a court filing obtained by CoinDesk.

In a sworn affidavit filed Jan. 31 with the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Jennifer Robertson, identified as the widow of QuadrigaCX founder Gerald Cotten, said the exchange owes its customers roughly $250 million CAD ($190 million) in both cryptocurrency and fiat.

There is quite a bit of speculation online that he may have faked his own death. Apparently there has been movement within the accounts post-death announcement.

It's all very suspicious.

Top comment from a reddit post on the subject. Obviously it's all speculation, but interesting nonetheless. Keep in mind this guy was in some pretty murky waters legally prior to this latest news.

The guy went to India for "humanitarian" reasons then reportedly died. A 30 year old guy with chohns disease, which doesn't kill you. In a country where a death certificate is easy to forge and only costs $100. Then his wife that no one knew about came out and announced his death. And it just so happens that he was the only one with the password to the cold wallet. And on top of that, the people on that subreddit and btc subreddit found the litecoin addresses for the cold waller and amazingly, the ledger shows that he is still moving litecoin from beyond the grave. Seems legit
