IKEA Canada Announces Full Size Store in Quebec City

BURLINGTON, ON – IKEA Canada is thrilled to make the next stop on its coast-to-coast expansion journey, with the announcement of a full-size store for Quebec City.

Scheduled to open in summer 2018, the IKEA Quebec City store will be the 14th IKEA store in Canada.

...

In November 2015, IKEA Canada announced a coast-to-coast expansion plan to double the store count from 12 to 24 stores in the next 10 years. The Quebec City store is the second stop on this journey. The retailer announced a new store for Halifax earlier this year.

So with the previously announced 12 store expansion, this leaves 10 spots remaining for a possible Vancouver Island store.

"Coast to Coast" means you go to the coast. Ya gotta have the coast. Coast is Victoria. It's not Coquitlam. If you can't see the ocean, forget about it.

Best to read that in a Larry David voice.

Just give us a friggin' depot!

Which reminds me of a letter in the T-C today:

...What a disaster...there were crowds milling about on the sidewalk, there was no place to drop off passengers or park, and there was no shelter from the rain...Is that the image that Victoria and B.C. want visitors to leave with? The impression was more one of third-world jungle bus stop than sophisticated city-transportation hub. Victoria needs a proper bus depot, off-street, now.

Maybe IKEA would be willing to partner with the various inter-city transportation services to get the "mother of all depots".  ;)

^^ Welcome to vibrantvictoria Holden East......I think.

Your "handle", your avatar, and your in depth first post would have me believe that you are a bit of a humourist. No? Correct me if I am wrong.

Hard to tell, for sure.

It would really be something if Victoria is not included in that list.

Off topic, but are Holden East & Rob Randall the same person? Have they ever been at the same time? Enquiring minds want to know. OK maybe just me.

Holden West seemed more like Randall than East.

Really? I still don't see Victoria has having the IKEA demographic, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

I gave up trying to keep track of everyone's alternative names. I couldn't even keep track of my own, the spreadsheet was getting too complex. It's roughly one real person for every 200 registered users, I think.

You think the spreadsheet was too complex, consider when we had it on the old abacus.

Hmmm. I think Victorians can't keep track of their own stereotypes. If you love Wal-mart then you should love Ikea, no?

Remind me, what's the Ikea demographic?

The demographics and psychographics of IKEA’s target audience includes but is not limited to, both age groups of 18 to 34 and 35 to 49 years, but mostly a unisex mix of college or post-graduate aged individuals typically living in metropolitan and urban college areas. These age groups encompass both the younger, educated students as well as the young adult professionals. Their salaries range anywhere from $15,000 to $50,000 and they usually allocate this money to update their computers, PDAs and mobile devices. Hence, this audience usually includes early adapters of technology who travel abroad, take risks and have a transient lifestyle that may require them to move often, most likely from apartment to apartment, or perhaps upgrading from an apartment to a new condo or small home. The result of this lifestyle makes them first-time furniture shoppers...

It has also been suggested that many older buyers are not especially interested in furniture that requires self-assembly.

Speaking of which, what ever happened to Holden West?

Know it all.
