and explains even the quotes on the poster were not the girl's they were quotes from the facebook discussion on the topic on the school's facebook page.  presumably by other students.  that were later removed by the school admin.

now why the largest news network in australia is sorting it out when global went to the school and cbc is ignoring it is a good question.

the left wing winnipeg free press is ignoring the story too.  it's the largest paper in the province.

sorry i'm using the video commentary from the victim she gave to rebel news and putting that together with the australia site remarks.  i presume they are the same quotes. 

if you google all the quotes from her poster they come back to this story - not elsewhere on the net.

old enough to watch that 2-part episode i guess.  i mean times have changed in that you can be openly gay in flanders fields now without the gestapo getting on your case like in the past.

Donning a double-chested solemn black suit with a commemorative patch to honour Canada’s veterans and fallen soldiers, Cherry pointed out how he doesn’t see too many native-born and newcomer Canadians properly paying their respects to veterans, fallen soldiers and active service members. Cherry said he hesitated to play his historic commemorative video on air tonight, as no one wears them in Mississauga, where he lives, and “forget downtown Toronto, no one wears the poppy” but spoke to a veteran, who convinced him otherwise, and told him to run it for those who do don them.

Cherry triggered a lot anger on Twitter when said immigrants should honour those who fought for our freedom and way of life they came here to enjoy: “You people love–they come here whatever it is–you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple of bucks for poppies or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada. These guys paid the biggest price.”

Are immigrants easy to spot walking down the street? I'm thinking of Jon Joe I posted about earlier today, born in Victoria in the 1920s but I'm sure if Cherry saw him he'd eyeball him looking for a poppy.

might be 55% now.  add to that visiting foreigners for school and work and it might be 60% of the street.

I officially lost my fourth poppy of the season. It’s actually kind of embarrassing not to don one in some circles. I felt a little out of place where I was this evening but there was.

1. THE ERASER

This has been my tried and true method to keeping my poppy on ever since I was a kid.

Either tear or cut off a bit of an eraser, push the pin through your coat then add the eraser bit to the end, and voila.

2. DUCT TAPE

There are two ways you could try using tape.

The first is to push your poppy through your coat and tape the pin down, covering the entire needle. 

The second is to push the pin through, then wrap tape around the needle, preventing it from falling out.

3. SAFETY PIN

Here you just pull the pin out entirely and replace it with a safety pin, like so. Be careful not to prick your fingers.

4. LAPEL PIN

The fourth way to keep your poppy on is probably the most patriotic, and in my opinion, creative.

Remove the needle and push through a  Canadian flag pin. Then take the back and clasp it down, securing the poppy in place.

5. BEND THE PIN 

First push the pin through your jacket. Then using a pair of pliers, carefully bend the needle so that it won’t easily slip out.

6. WEAVE THE PIN

The sixth tip to try is weaving it through your coat material, like so. 

7. BUY A BUNCH

And the final tip?  Buy a bunch.

Yep all great ways to keep a poppy on. And I really dont have have an excuse for being caught without one. But it happens,

29 years in the military, we had trouble keeping on our uniform. Regardless of what we tried , every now and then we would lose one (praying it would never happen on 11 Nov!).

It happens.

His racism is glaringly obvious. That he can walk down the street and know which ones are the immigrants. Because they must have some sort of look about them. Brown skinned people don't need it explained to them. My immigrant ancestors were white so this accusation has never been leveled at me.

Recent immigrants are some of the most patriotic people I know. They appreciate how lucky they are to be here. Some of them come from countries where their own military is not to be trusted so it may take them time to trust what we take for granted.

Anyway, like I said--you walk down our streets--is that dark skinned person an immigrant? Or maybe just a locally-born member of the Sangha, Joe or Doman families, people that came to Canada a century ago and helped build this country?

Cherry can go to hell.
