Residential building same height as seniors I assume?

By our visual estimates does this building encapsulate the entirety of lots 4 and 5 at Bayview, which were originally envisioned to include two buildings (the western-most and smaller of the two was planned as a condo)?

There was an information session at the Bayview sales office last night on this project and the 4th Bayview tower.  They had some interior renderings of this complex that looked great. 

The crowd was largely made up of Bayview One residents who were quite pissed off about "having their view blocked". The developers' prior renderings (which I guess showed a stepped 3, 4, 5 story building) were apparently "deceiving" and the misled residents were "completely shut out of the consultation process".  I overheard lawsuits being discussed by some of the attendees.  It was quite awkward for the Bayview presenters and for the minority in attendance who actually seemed to be excited about Bayview Place growing into a nice livable community.  The developers essentially said this building is ready to go as planned and that there would be no more revisions. 

I have no dogbus in this fight but if ever there was a building that I would have expected to have a cutout somewhere, I think it would have been this one.

Nothing new really - I was disappointed. They have tweaked the floor plans slightly.  They have slightly changed the shape of the building.  Both changes done to enhance views in the units. Most changes were at ground level of the proposed building where there seemed to be a focus on creating a "mews" with coffee shop and restaurant and expansive outdoor seating that integrates with the roundhouse and goes down towards the small park by spinnakers.

Apparently the updated plans are before the city for comments, but i can't seem to find them on the development tracker.

It reminded me of the Cook Street skirmishes, with residents complaining bitterly about a building height of five stories when the zoning allowed six.

Rumor for the longest time is that there was a covenant on the property that prevented it from blocking the views at Bayview.

While I understand the frustration, if you move into a property where the adjacent property is empty, chances are pretty good that when anything is proposed it will not be to your liking and will change your world in some way.

In this case I think some of the hostility could have been alleviated by the developer. Height is known to be an issue in Victoria. There were plenty of inside renderings at the tables, but not much in the presentation for the outside views. It would have been nice to see street level rendering from the Shutters sidewalk and another rendering from the perspective of the main entrance of Bayview.

The Dev Tracker only shows Development Permits with Variance, so if no variances are requested then the DP application won't be online

Yeah I think that meeting, which I also attended, has truly freaked out many Bayview One residents. 

Over the last couple of days there has been 7 Bayview One suites put on the market, including 3 units on the 7th floor, well above the Aquara.  These units rarely are for sale, especially the south east corner units - but you can now pick one up on the 6th floor for a cool $1,499,000 (1,441 SF).

The only way to ensure an uninterrupted view is to purchase a small island in its entirety, clear cut it of any natural vegetation and build a circular abode that covers the entire land surface. 

We've been notified by ProLine that blasting is to start in mid to late June and is expected to last 6 months.

They're a strata management company - assuming they manage the Promontory.
