And we're off to a Public Hearing. Lots of discussion on affordability and whether or not below-market rentals are appropriate given the scale of development. Whatever happens, I hope they retain the dog fountain, which is a very important public amenity.

Great name for the project, too. The Dog Fountain.

Based on some of the renderings for this project it could be called The Dog's Breakfast.

The dog fountain also includes a public drinking fountain. Whether this is an "all-species fountain" or a segregated dog/human fountain will likely be key in whether this is approved.

Poorly it seems. I should have said 26 months.

Why does the Times Colonist insist on choosing negative and sensationalist headlines like this:
It would have been just as easy and accurate to say:
New homes to rise on church site
But no, they go with the headline they know will attract negative attention. I understand this will likely generate more online clicks, but it also feeds into the local anti-development sentiment that is all too prevalent in our region. There's a reason I will never pay for their publication.

It's not just the interwebs where sensationalism sells, seems the old fogey TC print media wants a piece of the action.
Does unbiased reporting still exist?

After a quiet spring, looks like there will be action on the site soon.
CoV has issued permits to cut off and seal the utility service connections, and the demo permit is "In Progress" according to the open data portal. I assume this means the City has received the application but has not issued the permit. There's also an issued electrical permit, which I assume is for a temporary electrical panel for the construction activity.

There's also some scaffolding up on the 1950s 'annex' building that is part of the church property; perhaps this is for pre-demolition?

Or I made an incorrect assumption re: how CoV labels their demo permit status, and "In Progress" means demo in progress, not permit review in progress.

Sadly negative headlines create a bigger reaction,
I once confronted the news director when I worked at CHEK, he of course denied and said they were just stating the facts, which is true, but would not admit putting the negative slant on the story will create more of a reaction, prompting people to follow the story and watch the news.

Does anyone know when demolition occurs?
