Gonna start off by saying i LOVE this place on Granville, but it's looking really bad right now for the Victoria location, all there reviews on Facebook are 1 star, as the manager as apparently raped someone who applied, this is all based of hundreds of reviews on the Facebook page right now

^ I'd probably say allegedly raped someone, there is no doubt about that.    Nobody seems to be naming names.  It's all very unclear what the circumstances are, or even who knows what they are.  Even the original person that started the letter-writing campaign admits (in a post we have a copy of) the incident was investigated by police/crown and no charges are anticipated.  Although it's unclear what she knows of the specifics.

I'm sorry, yes there are lots of *1's. But where exactly is the proof to this allegation? Sorry the's reviews are on Facebook, where prole react and share based upon a headline, without reading the article or and proof, or any proof of guilt?

Right, a female applicant says the incident occurred and a boycott has been started by some folks. Allegedly, according to one comment left on the Facebook page, crown dropped charges against an individual alleged to have raped a staff member/applicant. Lots of info swirling about but no names thus far.

We've contacted VicPD. They are not aware of any such allegations regarding El Furniture's staff. They'll keep us posted should anything change. I'm certain there will be police contact with the bar today, if there hasn't been already.

Just thought I'd mention it, I've saw comments off there fb page about it saying they know the person and its true, and then saw the 150+ reviews saying they're boycotting etc. Obviously this isn't based on facts, I just have a hard time believing someone would make that up..

Original poster (that was not the victim, but knows victim) says the victim went to hospital, went to police, and crown declined charges.  VicPD says they know nothing about it.   So who to believe?   It's very odd, for sure.

From the original poster that started the Facebook reviews/boycott:

I deleted my previous review as in the past 24 hours the warehouse has been nothing short of amazing in ensuring that justice has happened. The HR manager from head office called me personally and we discussed the incident. At no time would they tolerate an employee being involved with this. The warehouse has reached out and offered their support. My heart is filled with gratitude towards them and how compassionate they have been in this situation. Let me just say with absolute guarantee is that at no time will this company employ someone who is involved with a sexual abuse case. They are an amazing group who has gone above and beyond to support the people in this industry. Warehouse you heard our voices thank you so much for everything you have done.

From the original poster that started the Facebook reviews/boycott:

It sounds from that poster that she's close friends with the victim and that the company has been very responsive to her needs and that she is pleased with how they've handled the situation... unfortunately, the business has 150+ 1 star reviews and many people won't come back for a second look. It certainly shows how bad word-of-mouth can affect a business and why it's important for businesses to be responsive and helpful to sensitive situations like this.

It's also being noted now that the alleged suspect never worked there, the assault happened at a different bar, unrelated to Warehouse, and the victim never asked anyone to target any business.

Wow, 160 reviews in the negative and the suspect never even worked there.

A sad day it is when so many people jump on the bandwagon over hearsay.

I'm still looking forward to trying this place.

The only thing that's puzzling me is the name of this place.

EI?  EL?  Furniture? Warehouse?

United Furniture Warehouse for people on EI?

Happy to hear see the warehouse name being cleared. Now i only wish Facebook had a feature like yelp, when bad or unrelated press happens, they remove all the posts and close reviews until the storm clears.
