WHAT'S HAPPENING ON CITIFIED VICTORIA
I live about 15 mins (walking) from Tuscany Village and I had some time to visit the Monks there to do some shopping. It will be great to have a Thrifty Foods close by (I hate Safeway). I dont mind this development so much, but at least they could have added trees, I mean where the heck is the vegetation?

there are irrigation pipes sticking out of the sidewalk in a number of spots.

I don't want to repeat the rumour until I see it is the news, but as far as the restaurant is concerned, I had heard quite a while ago that it was going to be an East Side Mario's.

So I saw on their website that they have only sold 60% of the units... ouch. Wonder if they could do something for the housing issue with UVic students?

This place creeps me out a bit.
They a decent job with this fountain. It took close inspection to figure out it was fake stone.
The Thrifties has one of those escalator ramps for you and your shopping cart to the underground garage which is pretty cool actually.

Yeah they are called movelators. The carts have large magnets that grip the floor.

Methinks that would be why so many of the units haven't sold yet. A Tuscan theme implies intimacy and coziness, not a big parking lot. It's a jarring contradiction, in my opinion. The parking should have been concealed. This place should have been designed as a quaint (if very gimmicky) escape/alternative to the many standard-issue strip malls in the immediate area.

I wonder if they would have had more success had they made the units smaller and sleeker and totally modern like Reef/Mosaic etc. and marketed them to a younger (university?) crowd?
