Sidney-approves-Peninsulas-first-zero-parking-residential-development.jpg

Artist's rendering of Leeward, a three-storey, four-unit condominium and live-work complex approved for 2471 Bevan Avenue at Third Street in downtown Sidney. The project is the first high density residential development on the Saanich Peninsula to waive an on-site parking requirement.

I loved that quirky little house. Used to walk by it all the time on my lunch breaks.

But who lives in Sidney and doesn't own a car?

It might be a bit of a gamble, for sure.   But I imagine there is monthly parking nearby.

I would imagine that the sorts of folks attracted to a development without any provisions for parking would likely use a carshare service. I mean in downtown Victoria the majority of developments include far fewer on-site parking stalls than units, so the cer-free concept is catching on.

Yeah in exchange for parking, we proposed a Modo car so we will be supplying the town of Sidney with their 2nd Modo car to be parked nearby or hopefully, right in front. The future purchases get memberships with their unit purchase.

Agreed. It's the perfect little in-fill project for this location.

Yeah you are right, I wasn't sure when the 2nd car was delivered but it seems it has!
