We kinda skipped from **** The World to Free The Weed. I suppose For The Win is more a millennial thing.

Well, whatever it means, now they're 86'd.
Personal trivia: I worked at the Executive House restaurant 20 years ago with a young line cook named Aaron Lawrence. I also worked one emergency fill-in shift as a cocktail server at Doubles--it was the most complicated job I ever did.

Oh? I’ve never been, don’t even know where it is. I assumed it was a stand alone business with a LP license. Not the case?
Matt.
Usually hotels hold the license and then register a third party as the operator. In this case, it is a LP license and food service is not required. In fact, VIHA refused to let them produce food in the space. The lease does not include any kitchen facilities so one would have to potentially order from Bart's kitchen. For all the people slamming the place, if it isn't your style then don't go. It does serve a very niche community of cocktail and liquor enthusiasts who thoroughly enjoy Soole's creations. And it is economically viable, I believe the issue is with landlord/license

I've enjoyed my visits. Soole is not a Diva, but he does like things done a certain way. And I think he's unyielding in that regard.
I dunno, the fact the place sat closed for so long sort of made me think the hotel administration does/didn't really know what they are doing.

Who’s slamming the place? Comments seem to be overwhelmingly supportive, at least where I’ve been looking.
Matt.
Sorry it was on a VV Facebook link to the forum. Some people are nasty....

Yet one of the owners wrote on our Facebook page to retract any mention of a closure. Odd.

Operators of Sizzling Tandoor, with locations on Johnson Street in downtown Victoria and at Uptown, say Shawn Soole, the cocktail mastermind of FTW, will be helping the company create a lineup of libations.

^hasn't Soole had a string of instances of "Diva" that have sent him packing from previous ventures? Maybe he is just too difficult to work with?
Don't know much about him, but he certainly hasn't lasted long at his past few establishments - Little Jumbo, OLO, now FTW.
I've always enjoyed Little Jumbo and my one visit to OLO (so far) was enjoyable. Hopefully he can make the next one work with him staying around.

It was my understanding that the main people behind FTW are the operators of Clarke & Co and the hotel operators asked them to open a cocktail lounge in the vacant bar.

Don't know the guy but I know the reason why his latest effort has failed. I would say that in order to be successful in a small town you need to know your place and work nicely with others.

When using someone elses space, and liquor license you should hold onto some humility.
