Man, I must live in the low-rent area of town - I'm 'only' up15.7%. Interestingly, the land did 15.6, while the building did 18.1..

What about all your other homes?
Now I see why we have a "housing crisis", someone is collecting/hoarding them.
If they were empty that would be a problem but they are occupied.... 😊

^Vancouverites see Victoria as a bargain, they can sell their West Vancouver or west side home for 4+ million and buy a similar home in Oak Bay for only $2 million, what a deal!

Do these people have jobs though? Some people can not just move, when they have a job to tend to.
when you move and have $2 million dollars in the bank account tax free, congrats you just retired and can easily live off that money when its reinvested.
Also many jobs can be telecommuted today with the occasional trip on harbour air. Not saying all jobs, but a lot can be

With condos going up so much, I wonder if some detached home owners will see a reduction in their property tax.

My Esquimalt condo is up 37%. Pretty impressive for a 1970s condo that just two days ago partially flooded with raw sewage!
Since it flooded after July 1st that will affect next years values ;-)

That's just Esquimalt's new sewage system testing.

Or rather, neighbours gotta watch how many baby wipes they put in their toilets before flushing!

It's crazy how they clog the system! Some friends of mine have had a flooded basement more than once and wipes are the culprit except they don't use wipes or even have kids!

Cat litter can also cause a mess in multi-unit buildings. Some folks flush their kitty litter and kitty gifts and that can lead to a real problem once the litter turns rock hard.
And it could get worse.
More Canadians are spaying and neutering their cats, but feline overpopulation continues to be a problem across the country, according to a new study from an animal welfare organization.
About 94 per cent of Canadians who own cats say their pets are spayed or neutered, up from 80 per cent in 2012, according to a survey included in a Canadian Federation of Humane Societies report.
