I think it might be a good idea to put the hours of operation on the website. :)

Our hours have been evolving since our day one soft opening - once we have a solid set of opening hours, we will post.  Currently:

M-W  11:30AM-8PM

Thurs 3-8PM

Fri-Sat 11:30AM-9PM

Sun    3-8PM

So, Black Press's Best in the City Awards 2018 edition was published as part of today's papers.

Best New Restaurant

  1. Fernwood Pizza Company
  2. Superbaba
  3. Chicken 649

Well that was confusing.  I went to check the publication and was looking for "Best Pizza" (because I never learned to read, ok?) and it said Prima Strada and Romeos had an advertisement saying they were the best pizza...?

But I finally did find Fernwood Pizza Company under Best New Restaurant (I learned to read!) - twice (the page seems to repeat in the Issuu reader.)

Congratulations!

Bob - can better ice cream be brought in than the GFS specials that are currently sold? Kinda disappointing given that the pizza is much better quality.

I will pass that along. I know we’ve always been talking about parachuting in a premium local provider, we’ve just not been able to work it out, yet. The margins are probably far less favourable versus GFS, so I’ll bet that’s also a consideration.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. As one of the social media leads, I can assure you that the vote was 100% organic. I’m pretty sure that we didn’t post anything asking folks to vote and we certainly didn’t put any money towards this.

It’s kind of fitting that The People Have Spoken about the People’s Pie!

Thanks Bob - my 11 year old passes it by to get the better ice cream at Cold Comfort even though it means 10 minutes more walking 😀

UGH - so we've had our front door smashed in and were burglarized again.  That's twice in a summer.  ****ing degenerates in this town.

Surely you meant to say "desperate individuals"?

Sorry to hear that Bob, I (incorrectly I guess) assumed that was a pretty low-risk part of town.

Wow. Just wow. Well if they ever catch the poor fellow, I suppose I’m required to billet him until he turns it all around.

Pizza just too good. Octopuses are nocturnal you can’t expect them to stick to business hours they get desperate.

a year later how is this place doing?  it looks like they use skip the dishes now for delivery.

Definitely something we considered. I confess that I fail to understand the economics of Skip the Dishes - they charge a delivery fee to the customer and then take 25-35% of the cost of the menu item from the restaurant. We all know how narrow margins are. Every delivery item would be a loss leader. I also understand that the local STD rep is pushy and unpleasant, much like my run in with the Open Table rep was. I’m detecting a theme.

We were hoping to hook up with Accio - they mark the menu item up for the customer and then only takes 5% from the restaurant. Unfortunately for us, Accio decided to stop taking on new restaraunt clients to focus on their new The Kitchen concept right as we opened. We were prepared to hook up with them.
